patient-portal

Show a QR. The patient opens this clinic.

On the patient file, show a code. They scan it and tap Continue. No text message. The same link can go on WhatsApp, in a copy, or on a printed card. Clinics that keep SMS codes see no change.

Some clinics cannot send a text-message code. The patient still needs the portal: appointments, results, and the file, on their phone.

This drop lets reception open the door. Show a QR on the patient file. They scan it, tap Continue as (their name is partly hidden), and they are in this clinic. No text message. No typing. A clinic that leaves sign-in on Phone + SMS code keeps today's sign-in.

A prescription link, an invoice link, and a form link still work the same way.

On the patient file

Open the file. In Give portal access:

  • Show QR. The code stays on the screen for 15 minutes. Press Regenerate for a fresh one. They scan with the phone camera and tap Continue.
  • Send on WhatsApp. The link lasts 3 days.
  • Copy link. Three days as well.
  • Print card. The card lasts 7 days. It has the clinic logo, the patient's first name, and the code.

Each link works once. A WhatsApp preview does not use it up. It is used when they tap Continue.

If that phone is already on other files at this clinic, those names show before you send the link. That is the moment to catch a wrong number, or to confirm a family.

The box Also give access to other files with this phone (family) stays off until you tick it.

With no phone number on the file, the buttons stay off. Add the number first.

This clinic only

After Continue, they see this clinic's files. A link from your desk does not open another clinic.

The code does not stay in the page address. After they enter, the address is clean.

If another person is already signed in on that phone, the page asks them to switch first. Then the previous person's saved pages are cleared.

The phone stays signed in for 30 days. Each time they open the portal, those 30 days start again.

A password for this clinic

After the first visit, they can set a password. Next time they sign in with the phone number and that password. No new link.

That password opens this clinic. It does not open any other clinic.

They forgot it, or they have a new phone? Reception sends a new link in one click.

End access

Revoke access, on the same card, does four things:

  • Unused links stop working
  • Phones signed in at this clinic are signed out
  • The clinic password is cleared
  • Other clinics stay as they are

When you do not want text codes

Open Patient Profile Settings. Under Patient portal sign-in, choose Clinic QR & links only.

Patients do not create their own account. A new patient books as a guest, or reception registers them and then shows the QR.

The sign-in page hides create-account and forgot-password. It says: scan the QR at reception, or ask the clinic for a link.

If the clinic's WhatsApp is connected, the patient can press Send me a sign-in link and type their phone. When that phone has a file here, the link goes to that phone on WhatsApp. The page always gives the same answer, so a stranger cannot tell whether the number is on file.

Clinics that keep SMS

The other choice is Phone + SMS code. That is today's sign-in. Leave it there, and patients see no change. Document links stay as they are.
